Does anyone know how accurate the transporters in Star Trek are?  I just had a conversation which went sort of like this:

Me: This is nice bread.

My Dear Husband: It’s Co-operative’s new Thyme bread.

Me: I’m assuming you mean the herb, not hours and minutes.

DH: No, you have to tell them when you’re going to eat it when you buy it, because it only exists for that moment.  It’s so that they can put loads of butter in it and then as soon as you eat it the butter disappears, so you don’t have to deal with any of the health issues.

Me: Hmmm…

So, could transporters do something like this?  You could set them up in the bathrooms at fast food restaurants.
